Dudley North MP Ian Austin will visit the
Action Heart gym at Russells Halll hospital on Monday 11 January at
1030am to talk to local patients and staff about the equipment and
classes held there.
Austin offered to visit the gym after he was
contacted by many local residents, all of whom use the gym and
cannot believe the improvements to their health as a result.
The gym is also a great social environment for many
patients.
The gym has
a wide range of cardiovascular machinery and has over 500 patients
currently using the facilities.
The gym is
one of the largest of its kind in the UK and provides patients with
12 month care programmes. Regular exercise is vital for
people recovering from heart attacks and surgery as research has
proven it improves patient’s life expectancy.
Ian Austin
MP said:
“I am
delighted to be visiting the Action Heart gym at Russells Hall, the
work they do makes a massive difference to people recovering from
heart problems. The work the staff do to help people improve
their health is inspirational and everyone I speak to who uses the
gym sings their praises!”
“It is
important that when people are ill, they are not just treated
quickly but that they are not left to look after themselves but are
instead supported through recovery and constantly in contact with
medical professionals.”
“I am proud
to visit this gym as it shows how far health care has come on over
the last 12 years.”
