Priory card the winner for Austin this Christmas

One of Dudley's most famous landmark is the centrepiece of local MP Ian Austin's official Christmas Card this year.

National figures including the Queen, Prime Minister Gordon Brown, and the Speaker of the House of Commons as well as constituents and local organisations will be getting a little piece of Dudley for Christmas this year thanks to a Dudley Primary School pupil who designed the card.

Ian Austin invited local school kids to design his parliamentary Christmas cards following the overwhelming success of last year’s competition.

The winning card was designed by Callum Morris of Class 6 Red at Dudley’s Priory Primary School.

The winning picture depict the Priory Ruins during snow fall. Mr Austin will be visiting the school to award the pupils with thier prizes.

The cards have been professionally printed in full colour by Dudley Print and include the name and school of the winning design.

The winning design and runners-up have received prizes that have been donated by local businesses - which include sports equipment for all the schools who took part in the competition, tickets for the Black Country Museum and Dudley Zoo, and for the winner - two tickets to watch this years Community Shield at Wembley.

The card will also show the pictures drawn by this years four runners up. The card will be sent to the Prime Minister, Chancellor and other MPs, as well as local businesses, council officials, charities and community groups with whom Austin has worked.

Ian Austin said:

“The standard of entrants this year has been absolutely fantastic. I loved the picture of Dudley’s Priory Ruins which is of course is an important symbol of our town, and always will be. I thought the card was a great example of how we can celebrate our heritage”

“I’d like to thank all of the children and the schools who entered and all of the local businesses who have donated prizes”.
