Local MP unveils The Hub at Dudley College
Dudley North MP, Ian Austin, officially opened Dudley Colleges new educational facility – The Hub.
Mr Austin opened the Hub on Friday 7 December 2007, at Dudley College, The Broadway Campus, Dudley. The Hub is to be used as the college’s brand new assessment and support centre.
The centre will offer diagnostic assessments, which allow the college to take an in-depth look at students’ skills and plan learning support packages for
them. One of the things the centre will assess students for Dyslexia, which includes screening, personal support and progress reviews. Assessments like this
will ensure that students are on the right track to succeed.
Dudley College invested an impressive £200,000 on this brand new centre, which took three months to complete,
and was constructed around three large open work spaces. The Hub will also have three individual rooms for interviews and small groups support.
Ian Austin said:
“I am delighted to be opening a new educational facility here in Dudley. The college’s investment shows that training and education is
improving in our town. It also highlights the fact there are more youngsters in Dudley going onto study after leaving school.”
“I am also impressed that the investment has gone into an area that will make the working environment for local young people better and
fairer. It is fantastic that the college can tailor individual students learning.”
